SiAmo il Monferrato flies to Canada: culture, business and new relationships to grow the territory
La Voce di Asti – 04/07/2026
La Voce di Asti takes stock of SiAmo il Monferrato’s Canadian mission: from the recognition for “Gemina” in Toronto to the new institutional and economic relationships opening up for the territory.
The Asti newspaper reconstructs the Toronto trip of the association’s delegation, composed of Simona Paniati, Silvia Izzo, Caterina Gamba and Roberto Cotto, on the occasion of the presentation of “Gemina – Echoes of Identity Across Borders” at the Toronto Arts & Entertainment Film Festival. The documentary directed by Alessio Mattia received an Honorable Mention as Best Feature Documentary and will return to Canada in April for the Pomegranate Film Festival. The mission was not limited to cinema: the delegation met with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada, the Consulate, the Italian Cultural Institute of Toronto and ICE, laying the foundations for collaborations ranging from culture to tourism, to well-being and solidarity. Among the appointments already on the agenda is the association’s participation in Italian Cuisine Week in Toronto, between November and December. From the dialogue with the Italian-Canadian community, the interest of second and third generations of Italian origin in real estate and business investments in Monferrato also emerged, proposed as an attractive destination for quality of life and competitive costs. President Paniati summarizes the objective by speaking of “relationships that can translate into concrete opportunities for the territory”.
