Marvels of Saudi Orchestra Moves Rome at the Temple of Venus
RaiNews (TGR Lazio) – 05/2026
An evening of music without borders in the archaeological heart of Rome: TGR Lazio reports on the Marvels of Saudi Orchestra concert at the Temple of Venus, with Andrea Bocelli as guest of honor.
On May 9, 2026, the Saudi national orchestra performed in the monumental setting of the Temple of Venus, within the Colosseum Archaeological Park, under the patronage of Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Culture and President of the Music Commission. On stage, 32 members of the Saudi national orchestra and choir together with 30 musicians from the Fontane di Roma Youth Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Marcello Rota, presented a program that intertwined songs and dances from Saudi tradition with celebrated pages of Italian music. A symbolic moment of the event was the performance of “Al-Hijr and Rome,” a composition inspired by the historical ties between the two countries. Great emotion for Andrea Bocelli’s performance, which moved the audience with pieces such as “Con te partirò” and “Nessun dorma.” The evening was also attended by Siamo il Monferrato, invited by the Culinary Arts Commission: representing the association were President Simona Paniati, Vice President Silvia Izzo, and Project Manager and Chef Caterina Gamba. The evening, organized by the Saudi Music Commission, represented the inaugural stop of the orchestra’s 2026 world tour, following cities such as Paris, London, Sydney, and Mexico City, confirming the growing cultural diplomacy between Rome and Riyadh.
