The documentary exploring the connection between Monferrato and Armenia arrives in Toronto

Armenian Community – 22/06/2026

The Armenian Community of Rome has also featured in its press review the news of “Gemina” arriving in Toronto: a sign of the attention with which the Armenian diaspora follows the project of SiAmo il Monferrato.

The Armenian Community portal republishes in full the article published by Gazzetta d’Asti on the selection of the documentary “Gemina – Echoes of Identity Across Borders” at the Toronto Arts & Entertainment Film Festival. The text traces the genesis of the film, produced by SiAmo il Monferrato and directed by Alessio Mattia, which builds a dialogue between Monferrato and Armenia on diaspora, memory, spirituality, winemaking traditions, and art, through 24 interviews collected in four languages across Italy, Armenia, and France. The inclusive dimension of the initiative is highlighted, which saw four young people with disabilities as protagonists of the production thanks to the collaboration with Fondazione Time2. Space is also given to Gemina’s three-year cultural twinning project, which after Armenia in 2025 will reach Romania in 2026 and Japan in 2027. The article republication also focuses on the delegation’s mission to Toronto, with scheduled meetings with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada, the Consulate, and the Italian Cultural Institute. The publication on the community’s website demonstrates how deeply the project resonates with the Armenian diaspora in Italy.
